A cryptic note: “More To Come 1-29-09″ |
Normally, receiving the above combination of items in an unexpected package might be cause for alarm, but not for the guys over at Keen and Graev’s Gaming Blog. |

The package, sent by the PR folks at Mythic Entertainment, is the latest press release for Warhammer Online, hinting at an upcoming announcement regarding the debut of a new playable class, the Dwarf Slayer. This announcement comes on the heels of a recent patch in which two other player careers, the Knight of the Blazing Sun and the Blackguard, were added to the available classes on 12/22/08, bumping the current compliment of careers to 22.
The Dwarf Slayer is rumored to take the place of the Dwarf Hammerer, an offensive melee class removed during beta and never replaced. After having given the Ironbreaker career the ability to use hammers with a previous patch, it was clear that the Hammerer was out of the picture for good. Many initially speculated that the Slayer would be a viable alternative, given the place that these characters have in Games-Workshop Warhammer Fantasy Battle lore.
With the addition of the Slayer, the only remaining race without a 4th playable career will be the Greenskins who also had a melee type, an axe-wielding berserker called the Choppa, nixed prior to release. Will WAR see the return of this class as well?
