Call it a feeling (or an omen), but I think it’s going to be a good year for zombies.
We’ve got Left 4 Dead, which, despite its problems, is possibly the best multiplayer game released in a couple of years. Zombie Panic, a fan-favorite Half-Life 2 mod, has a blossoming community and has received exposure even from big deal gaming magazines. Max Brooks is scheduled to release The Zombie Survival Guide: Recorded Attacks early this year in a continuing effort to raise undead awareness. The Sundance Film Festival recently embraced the impending epidemic with the acceptance of Dead Snow, a movie about frozen nazi zombies who crave the flesh of vacationing twenty-something medical students. Even Texas warns its citizens of roaming zombie hordes.
Last, but not least: Capcom officially announced today that they will be publishing Dead Rising 2, sequel to the only game where bash in someone’s skull with a gumball machine. Development of the title has been turned over to Blue Castle Games, a Canadian studio, however Joystiq reports that members of the original team will be working with the team. And the best part is that Dead Rising 2 will be released on Xbox 360, PS3, and even the PC.
