Relic Entertainment announced to media outlets today that their sequel to the critically acclaimed real time strategy game Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War has gone gold. The game will be reportedly be available from retailers on Thursday, February 19th, four days earlier than the initial date of February 23rd set earlier this month.
As a fan of the tabletop game of Warhammer 40,000, Dawn of War 2 tops the list of my most anticipated games of 2009 (unless Blizzard is able to defy the odds and pull Diablo III out of its corporate ass before the end of Q4). I look forward not only to the game’s release, but to participating in the public beta set to open its doors to Windows Live users on January 28th, or January 21st for those of you who own the Soulstorm expansion to the original game. I guess Relic figures that if you got suckered into buying the nuns-with-guns addition to the series you should at least get something good for your money.
